The assistants we used before all sounded cold, full of that mechanical flavor. But the direction is changing. People are starting to pursue AI with personality. It may have a bit of a temper, joke with you, and sometimes even say something sharp. This is not just for fun. It is about building emotional connection.
Is that a good thing? When a machine can provide perfect emotional support, listen to your complaints in a society where many people are lonely, and even give you advice, what will human relationships become? Maybe the standard for “being human” will change in the future. We will no longer compete on who thinks faster, because you cannot beat the machine. We will compete on who is more flawed and who is more real. That sounds a little ironic, but it may be the only moat we have left when facing superintelligence.
